Sensitization Workshop – Perspective Plan for Polytechnic

Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Mumbai organized one day workshop titled “Sensitization Workshop” on 15.09.2018 at Sandip Foundation’s Sandip Polytechnic, Nashik for Trustees and Principals of various Polytechnic and Pharmacy institutes from Nashik, Ahmedanagar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar districts under Aurangabad Region of MSBTE.
The objective of the workshop was to create Perspective Plan to increase admissions of polytechnic institutes.
This workshop focused on various aspects such as detailed information on Survey Tools, Effective Implementation of Industrial Training for the students enrolled in newly implemented curriculum (I Scheme), Curriculum development, Practical & Industrial requirements etc. will be beneficial for overall development of budding engineers.

Secretary, Regional Office, Aurangabad, Mr. Anand Mapuskar, Education Expert, Mumbai, Mr. Harishankar Banarjee, President, Nashik Industries and Manufacturers Association, Nashik, Dr.D.P.Nathe, Principal Government Polytechnic, Nashik and Joint Director, Technical Education, Regional Office, Nashik, Mr. D.R. Dandagavhal, Assistant Secretary, Regional Office, Aurangabad, Prof. Prashant Patil, Principal, Sandip Polytechnic, Nashik graced the occasion by their presence. Trustees and Principals of various Polytechnic and Pharmacy institutes from Nashik, Ahmedanagar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar districts attended the workshop.
After introductory note presented by Mr. Anand Pawar, Dr. Sandip Jha, Chairman of Sandip Foundation addressed the audience and expressed his views on decrement in admission of Polytechnic institutes. He suggested the rapid improvisation in the curriculum to solve the problem of decrementing admissions.
Mr. Harishankar Banarjee, President of NIMA, Nashik stated his views on problems faced by industries in arranging industrial trainings of large number of polytechnic students. He further said that institutes can help in solving this problem by focusing more attention on practical.
Mr. V.R.Jadhav, Secretary MSBTE provided information on various schemes and projects to increase educational graph for various AICTE and Non AICTE diploma courses. He also gave information on practical and micro projects included in I scheme implemented by MSBTE from academic year 2018-19.
Mr.Anand Mapuskar, an expert in the field of education from Mumbai guided on opportunities for the development in employment and salary structure in government and private industries. He further added that branding is necessary to increase number of admissions to polytechnic and pharmacy institutes.
Prof. (Dr.)B.N.Jagtap, IIT Mumbai said that as number of engineering and polytechnic colleges are increasing every year, number of diploma passing out students are more than requirement of industries. This creates problem of un-employability of diploma students. He discussed about improvements in the employability skills of diploma students. He further added that engineers need to increase the efforts be taken to develop capability and skills according to frequent changes in working methods in the industries.
A survey was conducted among industries, educational institutes, students, faculties and parent on effective improvisation in the curriculum of diploma courses under by MSBTE. A detailed report on the same was presented by PWC team in the workshop.
Further Mrs. S.S.Chavan, Assistant Secretary (T), MSBTE presented methodology on data collection. Discussion on various problems and suggestion proposed by trustees and principals of various institutes was done after presentation.
Dr.D.P.Nathe, Principal Government Polytechnic, Nashik and Joint Director, Technical Education, Regional Office, Nashik expressed his views on current situation of curriculum of diploma courses. Finally he concluded the session and expressed vote of thanks.
After workshop, interactive session between industry experts and MSBTE officials, Principals was conducted where inputs for preparation of Perspective Plan for Polytechnic were taken from industry experts.
